How It Works
-
Share Your Project
Upload your ready 3D CAD files or describe your project details if you don’t have a design yet. Together, we will determine the most suitable solution for your specific needs.
-
Analysis & Quoting
Our engineers will review your request and perform a DFM (Design for Manufacturing) analysis. If necessary, they may contact you for additional information during this stage.
-
Manufacturing & Post-Processing
Production begins immediately upon your approval. Your parts are manufactured on industrial-grade machines, cleaned, and finished with professional post-processing.
-
Quality Control & Shipping
Your parts undergo dimensional accuracy checks before being securely packaged and shipped to your location.

Learn MoreFrequently Asked Questions
How does the instant quoting process work?
Simply click the Get a Quote button on our website and upload your 3D CAD files (STEP, IGES, X_T, or STL) to our secure platform. Our engineering team analyzes the part geometry, performs a Design for Manufacturing (DFM) check, and typically delivers an official price quote and lead time to your email within 2 hours.
Is there a Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
No, ProtoDep has no minimum order requirement. Whether you need a single prototype for your R&D process or a low-volume production run of 500 units for market testing, our goal is to provide full flexibility in your manufacturing workflow.
Are my intellectual property and designs secure?
Customer confidentiality and data security are our top priorities. All uploaded files are encrypted with 256-bit SSL and stored on servers compliant with ISO 27001 standards. We are always ready to sign a standard Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for your project. Your files are never shared with third parties without your permission.
Which file formats do you accept?
For the most accurate pricing and analysis, we prefer solid model files.
- For Tolerances: If your project includes critical dimensions, threaded holes, or specific surface roughness requirements, please attach a PDF technical drawing.
- Recommended Formats: .STEP, .STP, .X_T (Parasolid), .IGES.
- For 3D Printing Only: .STL or .3MF formats are sufficient.
What are your 3D printing tolerances?
Our standard manufacturing tolerances based on the specific technology are as follows:
- Industrial 3D Printing (SLA/SLS/MJF): Generally ±0.2 mm (Can reach as high as ±0.1 mm depending on part geometry and dimensions).
- FDM: ±0.5 mm (General tolerance). For tight tolerance requirements, please consult our engineers during the quoting stage.
