Critical Materials Used in Industrial Machinery
| Material | Technology | Properties | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon Fiber Reinforced Nylon | FDM Printing | Carbon fiber reinforced composite offering ultra-high rigidity and strength for metal replacement components. | Robotic arms, structural brackets. |
| TPU-E Flexible Filament | FDM Printing | High wear-resistant thermoplastic elastomer with excellent rebound, ideal for rubber-like functional parts. | Vacuum suction cups, gaskets. |
| ESD Antistatic Resin | SLA/DLP Printing | Static-dissipative technical resin with surface resistance designed to protect sensitive electronic components. | PCB assembly trays, grippers. |
| Nylon PA12 (Engineering) | SLS Printing | High-strength Polyamide 12 with a low friction coefficient and superior wear resistance for mechanical tools. | Gears, conveyor parts, clips. |
| ABS Filament (Industrial) | FDM Printing | Impact-resistant and machinable industrial plastic with moderate heat deflection properties. | Assembly jigs, CMM fixtures. |
Applications in Machinery & Robotics
End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT)
Traditional aluminum grippers are heavy and slow down robots. Grippers produced with SLS 3D Printing Service, featuring hollow structures and integrated air channels, are 70% lighter. This allows the robot to move faster and consume less energy.
Jigs & Fixtures Manufacturing
Tools that ensure operators assemble parts correctly are produced much cheaper and more ergonomically with FDM 3D Printing Service compared to CNC. When designs change, printing a new fixture takes only hours.
Spare Parts & Digital Inventory
Don’t let your line stop due to a gear or cover that takes weeks to arrive from overseas. By keeping critical parts in a digital inventory, we print them via Low-Volume Production Service on-demand and deploy them the same day.
Automation & Conveyor Parts
Wear-resistant custom star wheels, pushers, and guides that transport or orient products are produced tool-free using Nylon materials.
Industrial Machinery FAQ
Are 3D printed parts resistant to industrial oils?
Yes. Especially Nylon PA12 (SLS/MJF) and PETG materials exhibit high chemical resistance against machine oils, greases, solvents, and hydrocarbons.
Does replacing metal with plastic weaken the robot?
No, it often enhances performance. By using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Nylon, we produce grippers as strong as aluminum but at half the weight. A lighter end-effector increases the robot’s payload capacity.
Can moving parts (gears, hinges) be printed?
Yes. With SLS technology, we can produce gearboxes or hinged covers that function as a single unit without requiring assembly.
Can you reproduce a broken machine part?
Yes. Even if there is no technical drawing, we can digitize the broken part using our 3D Scanning service and reproduce it, often reinforcing it through re-engineering.
Is there an ESD (Antistatic) material option?
For tools used on electronic circuit assembly lines, we use certified ESD materials that safely dissipate static electricity.
