Recommended Technologies for Consumer Electronics

SLA Resin Printing
Injection-mold quality surfaces for smooth outer casings, transparent display screens, and buttons.
Vacuum Casting
Silicone molding for soft-touch keypads and overmolding different colored parts together.

SLS 3D Printing
Durable Nylon parts for complex internal clips, battery compartments, and hinged mechanisms.

Visual Prototyping
Painted and assembled aesthetic models for color, texture, and form verification.
Recommended 3D Printing Materials for Consumer Electronics
| Material | Technology | Properties | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Prototyping Resin | SLA/DLP Printing | High-resolution visual resin offering smooth surface finishes and micron-level detail for presentation prototypes. | Cosmetic housings, dummy models. |
| Clear Transparent Resin | SLA/DLP Printing | Polishable resin that achieves glass-like transparency, perfect for lenses and transparent housing prototypes. | Smartwatch screens, LED guides. |
| Elastic Resin (Soft) | SLA/DLP Printing | 80A Shore hardness flexible resin that is bendable and returns to its original shape, ideal for soft-touch parts. | Earbud tips, wristbands. |
| ABS-Like Technical Resin | SLA/DLP Printing | Highly detailed photopolymer resin that mimics ABS mechanical properties, offering superior impact resistance. | Battery covers, charging cases. |
| Nylon PA12 (Engineering) | SLS Printing | High-strength Polyamide 12 with a low friction coefficient and superior wear resistance for mechanical tools. | Drone bodies, VR headset frames. |
Applications in Consumer Electronics
Launch & Marketing Models (Mock-ups)
Before mass production, we create “Non-functional (Dummy)” models that look identical to the final product for commercials and catalog shoots. Professional painting and finishing give them a metallic or matte plastic texture.
Wearables & Ergonomics
Smartwatches, VR headsets, or headphones must fit the human body perfectly. Trials using Flexible Elastic Resin test how the product sits on the user without causing discomfort.
Assembly & Unboxing Tests
We verify how the product fits into the box, accessory alignment, and the “click” feel of closing lids using precise prototypes made with ABS-Like Technical Resin.
Low-Volume Production (Kickstarter/Start-up)
For the first 500-1,000 sales, we enable rapid market entry using RIM Molding Service or 3D printing without incurring high mold costs.
Consumer Electronics FAQ
Will the prototypes look like store-bought products?
Yes. Especially with SLA technology followed by our sanding, priming, and painting processes, it is impossible to tell the prototype was 3D printed.
Can you make transparent screens or light pipes?
Yes. Using Clear Transparent Resin, we produce and polish parts that distribute LED light homogeneously or provide clear visibility for screens.
Is there a soft material for keypads?
We can produce buttons with realistic tactile feedback using flexible resins that feel like silicone or actual rubber parts produced via Vacuum Casting.
Can waterproofing tests be performed?
With the right design and gasket grooves, 3D printed parts can be used for IP67/IP68 testing. For sealing, Vacuum Casting Service is often preferred.
Do they withstand drop tests?
Visual resins are brittle, but casings produced with Tough Resin or Nylon PA12 materials can withstand drop tests from 1-2 meters.
