Recommended Technologies for Architecture

FDM 3D Printing
The most economical and rapid solution for large-scale massing models and topography.

SLA Resin Printing
Micron-level precision for facade details, window frames, interior furniture, and miniature human figures.

Visual Prototyping
“Showcase” quality models for sales offices, featuring professional painting, landscaping, and lighting.

SLS 3D Printing
The only solution for parametric structural nodes and complex organic connections in modern architecture. Since it requires no support structures, it produces impossible-to-clean complex forms flawlessly.
Critical Materials Used in Architectural Models
| Material | Technology | Properties | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLA Filament (Economic) | FDM Printing | The most popular easy-to-use bioplastic filament for rapid prototyping and high-detail visual models. | Massing models, terrain layers. |
| Standard Prototyping Resin | SLA/DLP Printing | High-resolution visual resin offering smooth surface finishes and micron-level detail for presentation prototypes. | Facade panels, railings. |
| Clear Transparent Resin | SLA/DLP Printing | Polishable resin that achieves glass-like transparency, perfect for lenses and transparent housing prototypes. | Windows, water features, glazing. |
| Nylon PA12 (Engineering) | SLS Printing | High-strength Polyamide 12 with a low friction coefficient and superior wear resistance for mechanical tools. | Complex roof structures, nodes. |
Applications of 3D Printing in Architecture
Parametric & Organic Designs
Curvilinear forms, complex roof structures, and parametric facades—typical of Zaha Hadid style architecture—that are impossible to produce via traditional laser cutting or handcrafting, are produced flawlessly in a single shot with 3D printing.
Competition & Concept Models
With days left before a deadline, we produce white or monochrome massing models that best communicate your design intent using PLA Filament (Economic) within 24 hours.
Sales Office & Launch Models
Detailed models for residential project marketing; adorned with landscaping, lighting, transparent glazing, and realistic textures (brick, wood, etc.) to captivate potential buyers.
Interior Design & Furniture Models
1/20 or 1/50 scale interior details, custom-designed furniture, and lighting fixtures are printed down to the finest detail using SLA / DLP Resin Printing.
FAQ for Architects
Can you print my Revit or SketchUp file?
Yes. However, architectural drawings (wall thicknesses, etc.) need to be made suitable for 3D printing (water-tight mesh). Simply converting your file to STL or OBJ format is usually sufficient.
What is the maximum model size?
While our single-piece build volume is limited (e.g., 900mm), there is no limit to the final model size. We produce massive city models using segmentation, printing them in parts and assembling them seamlessly.
How is transparent glass made?
For windows and glass facades, we use Clear Transparent Resin. After printing, we apply a polishing process to remove the frosted look and achieve glass-like clarity.
Can the models be painted?
Absolutely. We apply primer and professional paint over the raw print to reflect the true colors of your building (anthracite frames, wooden decks, etc.).
How does the lead time compare to handmade models?
Traditional model making can take weeks, whereas with 3D printing technologies, a complex site model can be delivered in 3-5 days, and simple massing studies in just 1 day.
